SENIOR CHOIR CATEGORY GUIDELINES 2021

 

  1. Eligibility and membership  

​1.1 The competition is open to all choirs – mixed or equal voices, regardless of gender – ​​​whose members fulfill the citizenship and age requirements.

​1.2 The singers must be Filipino citizens, 19 to 30 years old by 31 December 2021.

​1.3 Membership is limited to a minimum of sixteen (16) and a maximum of twenty-four ​​​(24) singers, one (1) accompanist, and one (1) conductor. Additional ​​​​instrumentalists required in any of the pieces must come from within the choir.

​1.4 The conductor and members shall perform with only one (1) group in all levels of ​​​competition.

  1. Repertoire requirements

​2.1 VIDEO ELIMINATIONS

​A well-balanced free program of a cappella pieces with contrasting styles, language, and ​time period.  Total singing time must not exceed nine (9) minutes.  Singing time excludes ​entrance, pause and exit.  

​2.2 SEMI-FINALS

​A well-balanced free program of a cappella pieces with contrasting styles, language, and ​time period.  Total singing time must not exceed twelve (12) minutes.

​2.3 NATIONAL FINALS

​A well-balanced free program of a cappella pieces with contrasting styles, language, and ​time period.  A contest piece will be distributed after the semi-finals.  Total singing time ​must not exceed fifteen (15) minutes.

​Pieces may not be repeated across all levels.

 

​Performances exceeding time limit will be penalized.

 

​The choir must perform the piece in the key written on the music score.

 

  1. Submission requirements

​3.1. Pdf files of the music scores shall be submitted together with the general packet.

​3.2. Submitted pdf files must have the permission of the composer or publisher except ​​​those taken from public domain.

 

 

  1. Jury

​4.1. A jury of three (3) internationally renowned experts will evaluate the performances.

 

  1. Awards

​5.1. First, Second, and Third prizes may or may not be awarded by the jury.

​5.2. Other special awards may be awarded by the jury.
